Oliver Arellano Padilla Artist Designer
 
 
Oliver Arellano Padilla is an artist, designer, and educator whose diverse practice focuses on the intricate social and cultural histories, along with the philosophical implications, of technology and media. He meticulously examines how the ongoing evolution of technology reshapes our conceptions of what it means to be human, influencing our behavior, shaping our relationships, and redefining the self. By conceptualizing his artistic practice as a material and visual philosophy intimately connected to the concrete realities of life, he thoughtfully explores the profound philosophical issues and paradoxical conditions that emerging technologies present. His multifaceted work manifests in various forms, including installations, moving images, visual and material objects, as well as writing and lectures that aim to engage audiences on multiple levels.
Oliver holds a BA in Graphic Design from Universidad de Monterrey, an MFA in Transdisciplinary Design from Parsons School of Design, and is a PhD candidate in Communication at the University of Massachusetts Amhersts. 
Currently, he teaches at UMASS Amherst and has previously taught at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and The New School.
